JURA ON THE PATH OF ORWELL
A recent collection of original artwork inspired by a residency at 'Barnhill' on the Isle of Jura. Batey's dramatic paintings offer an insight into the remote landscape of Scotland's Inner Hebrides, which surrounded the late George Orwell when he penned his final novel "1984".
2026 Exhibition opened by Quentin Kopp, Chair of The Orwell Society

ART & CREATION
A collection of original artwork displayed in Carlisle Cathedral's Undercroft (Spring 2025)
Showcasing a variety of media and techniques; from oils and watercolour to casein, stucco and graphite. This body of work nods to Batey's own spirituality, bringing his familiar epic landscapes together with biblical themes and studies of religious iconography.
